JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Overview

· We are seeking a skilled, safety-focused Technician to join our Crash Test Safety Instrumentation Lab.

· In this role, you will prepare, instrument, and support vehicle crash testing, ensuring test equipment and data acquisition systems are accurate, reliable, and operated safely.

A Typical Day

· Review daily test schedules, test plans, and safety requirements with the lab team.

· Install and verify sensors, wiring, and data acquisition systems for upcoming tests.

· Perform pre-test equipment checks and routine calibration.

· Support crash test execution and ensure accurate data capture.

· Diagnose and resolve equipment and instrumentation issues.

· Assist with post-test teardown, data review, and results archiving.

· Fabricate or modify fixtures and brackets as needed.

· Maintain accurate test records and prepare for upcoming tests.

Key Responsibilities

· Prepare and conduct standard tests within the Crash Test Safety area.

· Operate all lab equipment correctly and safely.

· Troubleshoot testing equipment to the component level.

· Install, route, and verify vehicle instrumentation and data acquisition systems for test readiness.

· Perform calibration and preventive maintenance on test equipment and sensors.

· Support crash test preparation and post-test teardown.

· Fabricate or modify parts and fixtures to match design requirements.

· Apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to assigned tasks as part of broader project goals.

Required Qualifications

· 6+ years of closely related experience, or a related associate degree and 4+ years of experience.

· Strong commitment to safe work practices and procedural compliance.

· Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced test environment.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with vehicle instrumentation and data acquisition systems.

· Electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

· Experience with test equipment calibration and maintenance.

· Hands-on experience with crash test preparation and teardown.

· Familiarity with high-voltage vehicle systems.
