What You’ll Do

Program Services and Duties

Provides social work and case management services for assigned cases, in accordance with all applicable contractual and regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. Conducts and documents ORR unaccompanied child (UC) assessments in accordance with ORR policies and procedures. May arrange referrals, consultations, therapeutic services, and confer with other specialists on the course of care and treatment. Reports significant incidents in accordance with ORR policies and procedures, and program services quality.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Assume primary responsibility for all cases on assigned caseload. Provide a range of case management, including social casework, engagement, and mentoring.
  • Collect, assess and document appropriate data and client progress. Assume responsibility for and complete documentation, reports, statistics, and assignments within required time frames and as required.
  • Work collaboratively with referral sources, agencies, institutions and individuals who have pertinent roles in client’s life situation.
  • Take primary responsibility for intake and initial placement services for all newly referred cases.
  • Coordinate placement arrangements with care provider, including transportation of children as needed.
  • Provide more intensive supportive casework services to child, birth family, and care provider during initial placement and transfer.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related human service field; licensed by the State of Michigan preferred.
  • Experience:

    One year experience in child welfare preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Ability to work with minimal direct supervision; utilize assessment, problem identification, and intervention with individuals, families, and groups; work within complex social systems; deal constructively with client apathy, hostility, resistance, and anger; work in team relationships with other professionals; read, write and speak fluent English; bilingual in language of persons served beneficial; communicate with staff, outside agencies and others; input data into computer;

    read, review and proofread documents; knowledge of federal, state and local human service systems; understanding of cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of clients served.
  • Additional Work Requirements:
    Participate in a system of 7-day case management services; unrestricted valid drivers license with good driving record; reliable personal transportation suitable for safely transporting persons served; proof of current automobile insurance.
