Develop lifelong safety, leadership and communication skills

• Conduct personal training sessions with Members relevant to their goals; demonstrate proper use of equipment in the wellness center; observe the Members’ use of equipment and detect/correct movement patterns that may not contribute to goal achievement.
• Schedule each session, begin each session on time. Arrive 5 minutes prior to session for set-up, and stay 5 minutes after the session for clean-up. Ensure all sessions are conducted within the time allowed. Sign off on each session after it is completed. Have member sign-off on each session after it is completed.
• Build effective, authentic relationships with Members; help Members connect with each other and the YMCA.
• Regularly check on Members’ progress in meeting goals (both formally and informally); document the conversations and progress using appropriate tools (i.e. DAXKO Engage, Group Ex Pro , physical trainer logbooks).
• Follow YMCA policies and procedures; respond to emergency situations.

• Current NCCA
  - Accredited Personal Trainer Certificate upon hire.
• High school diploma and two years of related experience and/or training; BS in Health Sciences or related field preferred.
• Passing grade on in-house practical; any necessary follow up completed prior to actively training clients.
• Must have current CPR-Pro/AED, First Aid, and O2 within first 30 days of employment; until certification is obtained, cannot work alone.
• Trainer is responsible for keeping all certifications current and in good standing.
• Strong customer service skills, ability to promote programs and services.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
