School Bus Driver – National Express LTD & Durham School Services

All applicants, including those with a current commercial driver's license, begin as Driver in Training. After completing training and meeting all requirements, the Driver in Training is promoted to a Professional Driver role.

• Provides safe and reliable transportation service by operating a school bus or other vehicle with a fixed or changing route.
• Exhibits the highest ethical standards and personal integrity; reports concerns about suspicious or inappropriate behavior to supervisors.
• Reports to duty on time and maintains the route on time while ensuring safety.
• Physically assists passengers in evacuation of the vehicle in case of emergency.
• Immediately reports any accident or incident per company policy.
• Follows company policy around student and/or passenger management.
• Informs all appropriate personnel of problems or procedures.
• Presents a neat and professional appearance at all times.
• Completes all required paperwork—including route change sheets, time cards, and vehicle repair requests—and submits it timely.
• Maintains a cooperative attitude with fellow employees, supervisors, customers, and passengers while promoting company goodwill.
• Safely and efficiently utilizes vehicle equipment, including wheelchair lifts, radios, and emergency equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Must be at least 21 years of age; for Tennessee School Bus Drivers, at least 25 years of age per state law.
• Must possess, or be able to obtain, all valid applicable state licenses and other required certifications to operate company vehicles.
• Must meet physical and medical requirements and pass substance abuse screening; will be subject to random substance abuse screening under company policy.
• Must satisfactorily complete and pass all training.
• Must practice defensive driving at all times and avoid vehicular and industrial accidents by practicing safe driving and work habits.
• Compliance with all applicable federal, state, county, district, and contract‑specific driver requirements.
