Qualifications:- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must have the physical capability of performing and perform a daily pre-trip inspection as mandated.
- Must be physically able to wear a seat belt.
- Be physically qualified as determined by an annual physical examination meeting the criteria established by the Ohio Department of Education, Form T-8.
- Complete pre-service and in-service training as per Rule of the Administrative Code.
- Hold a current commercial drivers license.
- Demonstrate the ability to cope with stressful situations, including students with disabilities.
- Possess or upgrade skills through formal and/or in-service training related to transportation of students.
- Have a satisfactory work history and driving record as verified through references and reports from law enforcement and licensing agencies.
- Pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screens as required under Ohio law.
Transportation Coordinator
Supervises:Children who are passengers on the bus he/she operates
Position Goal:To provide safe and efficient transportation of students
Terms of Employment:The total number of days school is in session during a school year is 178 plus 6 paid holidays, plus the opening day meeting.
Evaluation:Performance will be evaluated by the Transportation Coordinator. Drivers are evaluated once a year prior to acquiring a continuing contract, then every three years, with additional evaluations if necessary.
Job Responsibilities:- Cleans the bus and acquires necessary repairs and service as needed.
- Completes mandated pre-trip prior to driving each day.
- Complies with all Ohio laws, ODE, and district policies related to drug/alcohol testing.
- Obeys all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Keeps to assigned schedule and route.
- Supervises students on the bus, maintaining discipline and safety.
- Enforces bus regulations and reports undisciplined students.
- Handles routine reports and communicates delays or issues promptly.
- Maintains the bus in proper condition, including fueling and reporting spills.
- Uses proper grammar and professional communication in reports.
- Maintains a well-groomed appearance, positive attitude, punctuality, and dependability.
- Shows interest in the job, remains flexible, and makes sound decisions.
- Communicates concerns directly, cooperates with colleagues, and deals diplomatically with parents.
- Maintains a positive image of the school district and confidentiality.
Performs other related duties as assigned, including field trips.
