Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: Magnolia

Olde Wood Ltd. is seeking an experienced Logistics Manager with strong (LTL) freight expertise to manage our inbound and outbound transportation operations.

This role is about more than scheduling shipments. We are looking for someone who understands the LTL freight industry, knows how to build strong carrier relationships, effectively utilize 3PL providers, negotiate competitive rates, evaluate carrier performance, and solve freight challenges quickly and effectively.

The Logistics Manager will serve as the primary connection between our carriers, 3PL partners, warehouse, sales, customer service, and customers, ensuring our products arrive safely, on time, and at a competitive cost.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate inbound and outbound LTL freight, along with parcel, 3PL, and company-truck shipments.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with LTL carriers, carrier representatives, 3PL providers, brokers, regional carriers, and local transportation partners.
  • Utilize 3PL services and transportation management resources to secure competitive rates, expand carrier options, improve capacity, and support challenging or specialized shipments.
  • Evaluate when to use direct carrier relationships versus 3PL services based on cost, service, capacity, transit time, destination, and shipment requirements.
  • Negotiate freight rates, discounts, accessorial charges, and service agreements with carriers and transportation partners.
  • Continually prospect for and develop new carrier and 3PL relationships to improve service, capacity, geographic coverage, and cost.
  • Select the appropriate transportation provider based on reliability, service, transit time, product requirements, destination, and overall value.
  • Monitor carrier and 3PL performance, including pickup reliability, transit times, communication, damages, claims, and overall service.
  • Track shipments and proactively resolve delays, missed pickups, damages, shortages, and delivery issues.
  • Prepare and manage Bills of Lading (BOLs), packing slips, shipping records, and international shipping documentation.
  • Manage freight damage claims and work directly with carriers and 3PL providers toward timely resolution.
  • Communicate shipment status and potential issues with sales, customer service, warehouse personnel, and customers.
  • Manage company truck scheduling, maintenance, and transportation coordination.
  • Ensure transportation activities comply with applicable safety, regulatory, and company requirements.
What We're Looking For

LTL freight experience is a priority for this position. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience managing LTL transportation and understands freight classifications, rate structures, accessorial charges, carrier selection, 3PL services, freight claims, and damage prevention.

We are particularly interested in someone who knows how to leverage both direct carrier relationships and 3PL partnerships to create a strong, flexible transportation network. The right candidate should be comfortable comparing options, negotiating rates, managing carrier performance, and determining the best transportation solution for each shipment.

Experience shipping large, heavy, high-value, long-length, or damage-sensitive products is strongly preferred.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who understands the value of relationships within the freight industry. Competitive rates matter, but dependable service, communication, accountability, capacity, and having the right transportation partners are equally important.

Qualifications
