Composite Technician

Job Summary:

Bonds various materials, including composites and laminate, together to create parts, prototypes, or products. Operates measuring tools, cutting tools, and various other equipment to bind, laminate, cut, vacuum‑bag, cure, smooth, and perform other operations on composite material.

• Cut glass template for products following and reviewing instructions, documentation, engineering models and drawings.
• Follow the laminate schedule and load the fiber glass properly into the mold.
• Apply vacuum bag and check for leaks to ensure quality parts.
• Use basic hand tools to release parts from molds and stage them for trimming.
• Accurately use mold release and apply properly to mold surface.
• Use pneumatic power tools to trim parts to the appropriate dimensions.
• Perform basic finishing and assembly functions.
• Follow shop orders and verify correct accessories are attached to the product.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Previous manufacturing or relevant work experience is preferred.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up 35‑50 pounds. The Charles Industries weight rule allows 35 lbs and under to be lifted alone.

35‑50 lbs can be lifted by one person if comfortable. 50 lbs or more requires assistance or a lifting device (e.g., pallet jack, forklift, scissor table, buddy system).

The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential job functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often exposed to high temperatures, occasionally to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles. Noise level is usually moderate to loud.

Personal Protective Equipment such as coveralls and respirator are required. Safety shoes/boots are required.
