Summary
The Manager in Training is responsible for assisting the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager regarding overall operations and administrative duties. They are knowledgeable in each product area or department, help achieve store goals, maintain compliance with policies and standards, promote sales and promotions, and serve as an ambassador of Hibbett to create a unique customer experience. In the Store Manager's absence, they assume supervisory control and are trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.

Responsibilities- Assist the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett.
- Consult with the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager to establish action plans for departmental and overall store responsibilities such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Assume responsibility for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager.
- Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments when necessary.
- Maintain awareness of inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability in all departments.
- Direct staff to ensure each department’s responsibilities and standards are completed.
- Keep the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
- Assure quality customer service is maintained.
- Perform general administrative duties as needed and receive training in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
- Produce extraordinary customer service highlighted in the customer service manual, including helping customers as they enter the store and assisting multiple customers during peak periods.
- Promote and sell services and merchandise provided by Hibbett.
- Practice and uphold all Hibbett I City Gear policies, procedures, and standards as listed in the operations policy manual, personnel policy manual, visual manual, customer service manual, and memos with the company's direction.
- Protect the company’s assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and informing management and/or appropriate officials of potential fraud risk.
- Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager, including interviewing, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, and resolving problems.
- Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
- 1–3 years of customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
- Self‑starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with precision.
- Team‑player, passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.
