Job description

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant seeking an opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of primary age learners with SEMH, trauma based needs and ASC? If so, Timeplan Education invite you register with is for a long-term position at a SEN school in Okehampton.

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Okehampton, Devon

Contract Type: Full-Time

Start Date: 01/09/26

Contract Duration: This is a longterm opportunity for the rest of the academic year with an opportunity for a permanent role.

Salary: 90 to 105 per day, depending on experience

About the Provision: The SEN provision is an integral part of a large multi academy trust and is dedicated to providing a nurturing and tailored learning environment for pupils aged (ages 5-16) with specific needs, including ASD, ADHD, MLD, trauma and SEMH needs. They focus on nurturing their participation and building their confidence to enhance their overall learning experience.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Work closely with a team of professionals, including a SEN Teacher and other SEN Teaching Assistants.
  • Support the pupils on a 1‑1 or in small groups, providing encouragement and nurturing support throughout the day.
  • Foster participation, assist in building confidence, and create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children with communication and interaction needs, particularly those with ASD, ADHD, or SEMH needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with both pupils and the team.
  • Commitment to providing nurturing support to enhance pupils' confidence and participation.
  • Flexibility, resilience, and the ability to adapt to the needs of the pupils.
  • Relevant qualifications or training related to SEN support would be an advantage.
