English Teacher and General Cover Supervisor

Location:

Okehampton and surrounding areas (including Hatherleigh, Holsworthy, Tavistock: EX20 and PL20 Postcodes)

Salary: GBP
130 – GBP
160 per day for day‑to‑day supply (Paid to scale for long‑term placements including planning/marking)

Contract Type:
Day‑to‑day Supply, Short‑Term, and Long‑Term contracts available

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 15:30 (Term Time Only)

Start Date:

September 2026 (New Academic Term)

Key Requirements:

QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) Essential; ECTs (Early Career Teachers) Welcomed

• Deliver engaging English Language and Literature lessons across Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4).
• Provide high‑quality general cover across other subject areas when required, ensuring students remain on task and focused.
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with individual school policies.
• For long‑term roles: actively plan, prepare resources, assess pupil work, and participate in departmental progress meetings.

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (QTLS with SET membership).
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to adapt quickly to different school cultures.
• Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness for a new one through Randstad).
• Professional, reliable, and proactive approach to supporting student learning.
