To assist in managing the efficiency and optimal performance of the data centers while participating in activities to evaluate, configure, manage and support all aspects of the data centers.
PrimaryJob Responsibilities
- Operates and implements all data center processes and procedures using ITIL standards for incident, problem and change management.
- Acts as primary technical contact for Data Center Services and CRES both as technical lead and local point of escalation during emergency events and day to day tasks.
- Identifies trends and analyzes risks to articulate implications and impact to data center operations.
- Tracks operational metrics and other data to provide Senior Management oversight for both snapshot data and long-term trend analysis.
- Develops and implements strategies to future‑prove the data center, ensuring scalability, resiliency and adaptability to emerging technologies and evolving business needs.
- Recommends, creates, establishes, and executes policies and processes to align with corporate expectations and govern environmental conditions in the data centers and provides reporting on those conditions.
- Coordinates with other IT Infrastructure teams to fulfill requests, perform changes and respond to incidents.
- Works with various departments to improve, manage, update and administer the DCIM tool.
- Creates and reviews departmental operating procedures, as well as evaluates and documents process improvements, and conducts awareness training to all team members. Mentors and trains staff in both areas of the data center:
Facilities and IT processes and procedures. - Leads data center projects and coordinates projects with other departments and locations.
Perform other related assigned duties as necessary to complete the Primary Job Responsibilities as described above.
Minimum RequirementsPosition requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems and six years of experience working in a data center environment. Position requires IDCA, Uptime Institute or other advanced Data Center certification or the ability to obtain one within 12 months of employment. Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience.
Position requires advanced knowledge of servers, network cabling, and data center hardware; knowledge of data center electrical, mechanical and network system operations; ability to analyze and resolve complex problems; ability to effectively communicate technical issues; and the flexibility to work overtime and holidays.
