Marketing & Membership Manager Salary Range: $55,000–$65,000
Michigan Audubon (MA) is seeking a Marketing & Membership Manager to lead hands‑on marketing execution and membership growth for a mission‑driven nonprofit dedicated to connecting birds and people for the benefit of both. Founded in 1904, Michigan Audubon works across conservation, education, and research—and we’re entering an exciting phase of growth and visibility across the state.
This is a hands‑on manager role, ideal for a marketing professional who enjoys doing the work—planning and executing campaigns, managing content and systems, analyzing performance, and collaborating across teams. This is not a director‑level position, but rather an opportunity for someone ready to take ownership of core marketing and membership functions, build strong systems, and grow with a small, collaborative organization.
The role reports directly to the CEO and plays a key role in shaping how our mission is shared and supported.
Marketing & Communications:
- Develop and implement marketing plans and content schedules supporting programs, events, fundraising, and membership.
- Create and coordinate content across social media, email, website updates, digital campaigns, and limited print materials.
- Draft copy and coordinate graphics to ensure timely and consistent messaging.
- Collaborate with staff to translate program work into clear, engaging content.
- Maintain brand consistency across all channels.
- Leverage AI tools to assist with automation of marketing functions, including content drafting support, scheduling, performance analysis, and workflow efficiency, while ensuring that conservation science, bird knowledge, and mission‑based content are developed and verified by staff expertise and aligned with Michigan Audubon’s voice, accuracy standards, and brand.
- Assist with the planning, coordination, and production of the Jack Pine Warbler (JPW) publication, including content coordination, timelines, and collaboration with staff and vendors.
Campaign Support & Reporting:
- Support membership, fundraising, and program campaigns through coordinated marketing execution.
- Track and analyze performance metrics across platforms (email, digital, social, web).
- Prepare concise reports summarizing results, trends, and recommendations.
Membership & Development Marketing:
- Support membership acquisition, renewal, and engagement campaigns.
- Assist with donor and member communications related to appeals, acknowledgements, and updates.
- Support audience segmentation and targeted messaging using CRM tools.
Collaboration & Operations:
- Work collaboratively with staff across departments to align marketing efforts with organizational priorities.
- Coordinate with external vendors as needed.
- Maintain organized project files, calendars, and documentation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in marketing, communications, or related roles with broad responsibilities.
- Strong writing and content development skills across digital and print formats.
- Experience executing integrated marketing campaigns.
- Comfort working hands‑on with marketing tools, platforms, and performance data.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Experience with CRM systems (Neon One preferred), Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace; basic design skills (e.g., Canva) preferred.
- Experience using AI tools to support marketing automation, content development, analytics, or workflow efficiency is strongly preferred.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to work in our Okemos office.
- Reliable transportation for occasional off‑site events.
- Availability to work occasional evenings or weekends for special events.
- Successful completion of a background check.
At Michigan Audubon, we’re committed to supporting our team with a comprehensive benefits package, including:
- Health, dental, and vision coverage
- Life insurance, FSA program, and short‑disability insurance
- IRA Program with a 3% employer match
- Personal Time Off (PTO): 10 days in your first year, increasing to 12 days starting at your 2‑year anniversary
- Vacation Time: 10 days in your first year, increasing to 15 days at your 2‑year anniversary
- Paid Holidays:
At least 10 paid holidays each year
