Accounting Manager Position Overview

The Accounting Manager oversees the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and efficient accounting processes. This role leads a team of accounting professionals and partners closely with leadership to support strategic financial decision‑making. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, analytical, and experienced in managing people, month‑end activities, and process improvements.

• Lead and manage daily accounting activities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.

• Oversee month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial statements.

• Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation.

• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.

• Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff; provide coaching and performance feedback.

• Assign tasks and manage workload distribution to maximize efficiency and accuracy.

• Foster a collaborative, high‑performance culture focused on continuous improvement.

• Maintain and enhance internal control procedures to safeguard company assets.

• Assist with annual audits, coordinating with external auditors and preparing required documentation.

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.

• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and strengthen controls.

• Assist with system upgrades, implementations, and enhancements to improve accounting operations.

• Develop and maintain accounting SOPs and documentation.

• Partner with FP&A, operations, and leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

• Provide financial insights and support strategic decision‑making.

• Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding financial data.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA preferred.

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.

• Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.

• Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems; advanced Excel skills preferred.

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
