General Description:

The Student Affairs Assistant provides clerical and other general office support to the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs.

Reports To:

Administrative Assistant to the VP for Student Affairs

Current OCCC Student Status:

  • Current OCCC Student enrolled in a minimum of 6 hours for the Fall or Spring semester or enrolled in a minimum of 3 hours for the Summer semester.
  • Current OCCC Student with a Federal Work Study award.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Positive interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently.
  • Ability to utilize a computer and comfort learning new computer skills when necessary.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
  • GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Sedentary work: the person in this position may occasionally exert up to 10 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry or otherwise move objects.
  • PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES This position requires the person to frequently move about the office and campus to perform the essential functions. It also requires frequent communication with students, faculty, staff, and visitors to perform essential functions.
  • VISUAL ACUITY This position requires the person to judge, observe, and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of the work assigned, or to make general observations.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS This position performs the essential functions in an indoor office setting.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Customer service work experience.
    • Initiative and willingness to learn.
