Role

Summary

The Safety Specialist 2 will coordinate and implement the field safety program for routine and increasingly complex construction projects. This position will be responsible for conducting safety inspections, identifying and documenting abatement of hazardous conditions, writing reports and performing trend analysis. Allното activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities – Core
  • Conduct regular walk‑through inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with laws and company policies.
  • Conduct safety audits on assigned projects by identifying, documenting, and recommending abatement of hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions; utilize internal safety management systems to document findings and track abatement techniques to closure.
  • Conduct project‑specific new‑hire orientation and oversee drug and alcohol policy compliance.
  • Monitor implementation of prime contractor and/or subcontractors’ safety programs.
  • Attend project pre‑planning, progress, and other relevant project‑related meetings to discuss safety‑related matters.
  • Support field leadership in implementing site safety program specifics, including chairs safety committees and related activities.
  • Assist in investigating project‑related accidents; confer with supervisor to determine root causes and recommend changes to eliminate recurrence.
  • Coordinate with injured employees and clinics to ensure timely treatment and return to work; compile progress summary reports of injuries for supervisor.
  • Monitor site safety incentive program.
Key Role Responsibilities – Additional Core
  • Apply a higher level of safety knowledge to identify complex issues and propose advanced abatement solutions.
  • Use schöve knowledge of equipment, laws and work processes to give project‑specific safety recommendations.
  • Communicate proactively in meetings and provide guidance on safety topics for new or existing personnel.
  • Perform trend analysis using safety management systems, identify trouble areas within projects or subcontractors, and recommend solutions to mitigate future incidents.
  • Provide guidance and training on basic and some intermediate safety‑related topics for safety and project team personnel.
  • Assist safety leadership during insurance audits.
  • Oversee more complex projects, including large or simultaneous projects.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to perform work accurately, completely, and in a timely manner.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Knowledge and enforcement of federal, state, local and company safety regulations.
  • Skilled use of company safety software, processes and tools (intermediate).
  • Recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures.
  • Build.

    Services relationship with teammates across projects.
  • Proficiency in construction technology.
  • Collaborate effectively within and across teams.
  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in a safety and health‑related field (preferred).
    • Equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
