Landscape Designer/Architect – Design-Build Firm (OKC Relocation)

Scapes, Inc. designs and builds $100,000–$750,000 high-end residential landscapes for estate-level clients in Oklahoma City’s most prestigious neighborhoods, including Nichols Hills and Gaillardia.

We are seeking a Landscape Designer / Architect-in-Training to join our growing design team. This role supports two candidate profiles:

  • Early-career designers (≈2–3 years) with a strong technical foundation and a desire to grow
  • More experienced designers (≈4–7+ years) pursuing licensure and long-term leadership

You will work directly under a licensed Senior Landscape Architect who is approaching retirement, providing rare access to mentorship, responsibility, and a defined licensure track.

Relocation to Oklahoma City is available for the right candidate.

Why This Role Is Different
  • Direct mentorship under a licensed Landscape Architect with intent to support licensure
  • Exposure to all phases of design-build, not just production drafting
  • Increasing project ownership tied to experience and performance
  • Compensation growth aligned with responsibility and licensure progress
  • Opportunity to grow into a licensed Landscape Architect and senior design role as leadership transitions
Position Overview

You will contribute across a wide range of high-end residential projects. Responsibilities will scale with experience, ranging from technical design and documentation to estimating, client interaction, and construction coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Documentation

  • Produce conceptual plans, schematic designs, planting plans, and construction documents
  • Develop AutoCAD or Dynascape drawings, Sketch Up models, and Lumion renderings
  • Assist with grading concepts, detailing, and design coordination

Estimating & Design Support

  • Assist with cost estimating for landscape, hardscape, planting, lighting, and site elements
  • Prepare 3D visuals, presentation materials, and client‑ready deliverables
  • Revise plans based on internal and client feedback

Project Coordination

  • Prepare takeoffs, material lists, and handoff packages for production teams
  • Perform site measurements, as‑built documentation, and project photography
  • Attend select site meetings to ensure design intent is executed accurately

Client Interaction

  • Participate in client meetings alongside senior staff
  • Communicate professionally and represent Scapes, Inc. with confidence
Qualifications (Required)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture (BLA)
  • 2–7+ years of professional landscape design experience (level dependent)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (or Dynascape), Sketch Up, Lumion, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong design, drafting, and digital visualization skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced design‑build environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
  • Experience in high‑end residential or estate‑level projects
  • Familiarity with construction standards, grading, and planting design
  • Interest in pursuing or continuing progress toward professional licensure
Compensation & Benefits

Compensation Range: $60,000 – $100,000+

Final compensation will be based on experience, technical skill, project responsibility, and licensure progression.

Benefits Include:

  • Health insurance
  • Retirement plan
  • Paid vacation and holidays
  • Year‑end performance bonus
  • Professional development and licensure support
  • Long‑term advancement opportunity within a design‑driven firm
Relocation

We welcome qualified candidates from outside Oklahoma. Relocation assistance and transition timing can be discussed for the right fit.
