We are seeking a Family Practice Physician for a 120-day locum tenens assignment in Oklahoma, starting Mar 23, 2026. This opportunity offers a Monday through Friday schedule with 8-hour day shifts, totaling 40 hours per week. The assignment involves providing medical services to an incarcerated or resident population, with both clinical and leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide a range of professional medical services, including examinations, diagnoses, prescribing medications, treatment, and follow-up care
- Offer leadership and direction for the medical program in collaboration with the Health Services Supervisor
- Monitor and review operations and standards of care delivered to inmates or residents
- Conduct interviews and make decisions on admissions
- Perform clinical rounds and participate in treatment team meetings to develop and review health plans
- Direct unit treatment operations and perform minor or occasional major surgery as necessary
- Hold clinics to assist nursing specialists with diagnosis, treatment, and prescriptions
- Maintain effective working relationships with facility and nursing staff, contract providers, and external agencies
- Utilize facility and correctional policies to guide decision-making, applying independent judgment as needed
- Assist in the formulation of facility medical policy and motivate staff adherence to procedures
- Evaluate the provision of medical services to prevent duplication or inappropriate use
- Monitor inpatient hospitalizations and facilitate early release when clinically appropriate
- Closely monitor potential catastrophic illnesses
- Prepare and maintain standard narrative, statistical, and operational records, ensuring timely processing of reports and documents
- Maintain security and confidentiality of all medical records
- Audit medical files for service documentation
- Recommend methods to improve operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness of health services
- Foster working relationships with outside hospital and agency administrators
- Support accreditation efforts by ensuring organizational efficiency and approved medical services
- Maintain on-call status as required
- Attend seminars, workshops, and conferences as needed
- Provide health counseling and education individually or in groups
- Clearly communicate responsibilities, authorities, and accountability to subordinates
