Position Summary

The MTSS Specialist will assist with establishing and implementing evidence‑based strategies, systems, and interventions that will help schools achieve improved student outcomes. They will support a systematic school‑wide MTSS approach, collaborate with staff to provide direct intervention and progress monitoring for students who need support in academics, behavior, and social‑emotional learning (SEL). Activities include coordinating classroom intervention programs, providing curriculum and instructional support, and implementing specialized services.

Cluster MTSS Specialists will monitor effectiveness and implementation of the systems.

Essential Duties
  • Support and coach classroom teachers on best practices for Tier 1 instruction and Tier 2/3 intervention.
  • Share research‑based instructional strategies and interventions.
  • Facilitate high‑quality professional development on universal strategies, intervention delivery, instructional design, and MTSS processes.
  • Assist in developing Tier 1, 2, 3 protocols, data‑based decision‑making, progress monitoring, and communication among student support teams.
  • Use needs assessments and data to identify and oversee development of intervention protocols.
  • Provide guidance on MTSS framework, tools, and techniques to reach all students.
  • Coordinate and facilitate implementation of academic, attendance, behavioral, and SEL universal practices and tiered interventions.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field.
  • Current Oklahoma Certification.
  • At least five years of successful school‑based experience in teaching, counseling, special education, or student support services.
  • At least three years of experience with progress monitoring, designing interventions, and response to intervention.
  • Knowledge of the MTSS framework, PBIS, RTI, SEL, restorative practices, trauma‑informed practices, and family engagement.
  • Proficiency in using data systems, spreadsheets, presentation software, and digital tools for intervention planning and tracking.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data to drive decision‑making and improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Special Education, School Psychology, or related field.
  • Additional MTSS/behavioral intervention certification.
  • Administrative license.
  • Experience coaching, data analysis, and presenting outcomes.
  • Leadership experience in a school capacity.
Physical & Mental Requirements
  • Manual dexterity to write legibly and perform computer duties.
  • Adequate visual acuity; normal hearing and clear speaking abilities.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, stretch, and occasionally lift up to 25 lb.
Work Environment
  • Office duties in a well‑lit, climate‑controlled environment.
  • Prolonged sitting; occasional work outside normal hours, including weekends.
  • Use of technology for communication and program management.
  • Travel between schools in the district.
