General Description

The Testing and Assessment Student Assistant supports the daily operations of the Testing and Assessment Center. Duties include answering phones, polling students after their testing experience, guiding students to the Advising area, filing, copying, and performing special assignments as requested.

Testing & Assessment Coordinator

Current Student Status
  • Current OCCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours for the Fall or Spring semester, or enrolled in a minimum of 3 hours for the Summer semester, OR
  • Current OCCC student with a Federal Work Study award and enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Medium work:
    Occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force; frequently exert up to 20 pounds of force and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
  • Frequently move about the Test Center.
  • Frequently communicate with students, faculty, staff, administration, vendors, and others.
  • Frequently remain in a standing and stationary position.
  • Frequently operate a computer, other office machinery, and devices.
  • Frequently operate equipment involving repetitive motions of hands and wrists.
  • Frequently position self to assist students or to grasp, move, or lift equipment or materials.
  • Frequently position self to access materials that may be above head or at ground level.
  • Judge, observe and assess accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work.
  • Indoor office setting; narrow aisles or passageways; occasionally function around prisoners or mental patients.

Job Duties (Position Specific)
  • Serve as receptionist/greeter to incoming students.
  • Conduct polling of students who have completed their examinations.
  • Walk students to The Advising Office post-placement tests.
  • Orient students to locker procedures.
  • Answer phones and field various questions regarding testing procedures, GED classes offered, and programs offered.
  • File forms and records as requested.
  • Produce documents for communication purposes as requested.
  • Make deliveries to various areas of the college when necessary.
  • Xerox materials.
Job Duties (Safety / Policy & Procedures)
  • Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures.
  • Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.
  • Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.
  • Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC’s established safety and health procedures and practices.
  • Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
