Meter Technician I – City of Midwest City

The City of Midwest City is accepting applications for Meter Technician I in Line Maintenance. It is an entry‑level position with technical skills to be learned with on‑the‑job training.

• Check utility accounts for unauthorized use.
• Utilize generated reports to verify the accuracy of meter readings.
• Complete work orders, including connect and disconnect of services.
• Perform meter and component maintenance and maintain the appropriate meter‑related software and databases.
• Create, extract, and process reports to multiple programs (Cityworks, Sensus Analytics, Sensus RNI, Naviline, etc.).
• Create, modify, and combine multiple lines of data from Excel and Word into reports, graphs, and charts.
• Exercise mental alertness and adaptability to office and field area work routines.
• Use good judgment in interpreting and clarifying data collected.
• Troubleshoot and determine malfunctions with electronic water meters and components.

• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must obtain and retain a Class "D" water certification from the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality within the first year of employment.
• Must obtain a Class "D" water operator certification from the Department of Environmental Quality within the first year of employment.
• Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver's license and be insurable.
• Previous experience as a Meter Reader/Tech preferred.
• Must be able to troubleshoot and interpret meter data.
• Position is designated as safety/security sensitive and is subject to pre‑employment, reasonable suspicion, and random drug and alcohol screening.

Starting Salary: $18.5165/HR w/ Benefits.
