This Manufacturing Programming Engineer position supports Oklahoma City Operations for Special Technologies Coating (STC). The successful candidate will spend significant time on the production shop floor programming, updating and improving the operating system for STC production equipment.
The role coordinates closely with the Process Method Engineer and Third‑Party Maintenance Provider to achieve exceptional delivery and quality performance. Responsibilities include programming various robotic applications—coating, laser drilling, and water‑jet processes—supporting fixture procurement, startup of stripping and coating assets, and implementation of new capital equipment. The position is a 1st Shift assignment but may require intermittent off‑shift support.
- Rapid troubleshooting and programming of production 6‑8 axis robotic arms and CNC laser drills.
- Design and analysis of automated systems and subsystems, including both hardware and software solutions.
- Communicate with system integrators in East Hartford or West Palm Beach to assist with continued development and debugging of production systems.
- Support cost reduction of mature products through improved part processing turn‑around times using automation technology and innovative mistake‑proofing techniques.
- Integrate closed‑loop methodology through sensors and data collection to enable process control and reduce operator intervention.
- Participate in standard work development for the programming, design, troubleshooting, and development of automated systems.
- Support the Process Methods Engineering Team with production goals and daily requirements as required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 to produce reports and brief all engineering‑related requirements for STC.
- Partner with WPB and EH initiatives to align requirements for OKC STC.
- Travel may be required less than 30%.
- Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of programming experience or an advanced degree in a related field; an associate’s degree with 4+ years of programming experience or, in lieu of a degree, 6+ years of programming experience may also be considered. Experience must include proficiency with programming logic controller (PLC) Ladder Logic, robotic systems, water‑jet systems, vision systems, peripheral sensors, and the ability to work from data such as solid models, part, and tool drawings.
- 2+ years of experience working with 6‑8 axis robotic arms.
- Active and transferable U.S. government‑issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
- Knowledge of machine, CNC, robotics programming and/or aerospace coating, laser, waterjet, grit blast and deburring applications.
- Experience and proficiency with FANCU programming along with offline programming (Robot Studio, Robo Guide, Octopus, NX, Master Cam).
- Proficiency with more than one robotic arm, ABB, Yaskawa, FANUC, KUKA, etc.
- Integration experience with automated systems and their design.
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning systems, specifically SAP.
- Prior military service or a supply chain management background.
- Lean Management Training and/or Certification.
- Positive attitude and the ability to thrive and adapt to advancements in technology.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
Salary range: 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The range is an estimate representing all experience levels and may vary based on role, function, location, and other factors.
