Job Summary

Nortek Air Solutions is seeking a talented and creative entry‑level Research and Development Mechanical Engineer who thrives on innovation and efficiency to join the Innovation Team at our Oklahoma facilities. As a member of the team, you will be an integral part of a multi‑disciplinary, cross‑functional group dedicated to bringing pioneering technologies to market through research, development, prototyping, and testing. With a focus on acoustics, vibrations, aerodynamics, energy efficiency, controls, electronics, thermal design, and mechanical systems, the team works with Nortek facilities, employees, customers, suppliers, distributors, and strategic partners.

The successful candidate will help cultivate innovation by actively modeling, prototyping, evaluating, testing, and collaborating to explore and demonstrate solutions critical to the future of our business.

Core Responsibilities
  • Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams exploring new ideas and approaches to enhance product performance and develop new innovative technologies.
  • Gain technical expertise and knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes to optimize product design for efficiency and cost‑effectiveness.
  • Assist with design simulations, prototyping, testing, analyses, and team reviews to ensure designs meet technical, performance, and quality standards.
  • Assist with industry specific regulatory requirements and certifications.
  • Learn about industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices to drive continuous improvement in product design and development processes.
  • Have working knowledge in thermodynamics, structural analysis, dynamics, heat transfer, and FEA.
  • Occasional travel may be required within North America (up to 1 or 2 times per year).
Qualifications
  • Character focused with demonstrated leadership potential.
  • Interest in research and development.
  • ABET recognized Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Up to five years of engineering experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor, Fusion
    360, MATLAB, Mathcad, Microsoft Office, Excel VBA, and Power Automate/Apps.
  • Preference given to individuals who
    • Have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Engineering examination.
    • Have successfully completed an engineering internship in an HVAC related environment.
    • Have earned Lean Six Sigma certification of white belt or better.
