Summary

Ensuring Customer Satisfaction through continuous process quality development through management of Process Control Plans (PCP) and PFMEA. Effectiveness is measured through RPN reduction, in-process yield (FPY), and warranty reduction (W as a % of sales).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Product/Model PCP development and maintenance.
  • Facilitate cross-functional preventative & corrective action plans based on internal and external quality results, including yield, warranty, and customer PPM. Perform failure analysis on customer returns to ensure quick turnaround time and responsiveness.
  • Mentor cross-functional teams (Process/Product Improvement teams) for effective root‑cause analysis, corrective, and preventative action; train other groups on a routine basis.
  • Coordinate customer visits.
  • Handle QA portion of APQP (PPAP) on product launches.
  • Resolve critical issues/situations, ensuring they are handled correctly and within current policy and procedure guidelines.
  • Act as quality representative in Lean activities.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications Education & Experience

A bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline or related field, and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a quality engineering position dealing with manufacturing quality process techniques and quality improvement programs. A good combination of education and experience is acceptable. Candidate should possess basic knowledge in the manufacturing/processing of electrical/mechanical devices and must be experienced in automotive (TS‑16949) and ISO‑9000 customer/supplier relationships.

Language

Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. The candidate should be able to determine the difference between a critical & general issue, gauge priorities based on that assessment in a timely manner.

Computer Skills

Computer literate with a working knowledge of software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, etc.

Knowledge and Abilities

Able to maintain a high technical knowledge of process control and capability. Excellent understanding of mechanical material processing. Able to effectively coach, mentor, and lead a professional team. Able to plan, direct, and delegate work to others. Able to direct and handle several different functions at the same time. Strong analytical and statistical skills. Technical writing skills are important. Able to stay up to date on current industry trends and technical advancements.

Certificates,

Licenses, Registrations

ASQC Certified Mechanical Inspector, ASE Transmission Certification, and/or Certified Quality Technician desirable.

Physical Demands

Regular use of hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. Requires standing, walking, sitting, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate.
