Financial Reporting, Senior Accountant
A fast-growing upstream energy group based in Oklahoma City is seeking a Senior Financial Reporting Accountant to take full ownership of its financial reporting function. With multiple entities already in place and additional expansion expected by year-end, this role offers the opportunity to build reporting infrastructure from the ground up and eventually grow a team.
You’ll report to a well-regarded CPA with both public and industry experience and work alongside a small, collaborative accounting team. The company is transitioning reporting in-house after previously outsourcing, so they’re looking for someone with strong technical accounting skills and the confidence to lead the charge.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual GAAP-compliant financial statements
- Generate lease operating statements (LOS) for internal and external stakeholders
- Lead bank compliance reporting, including debt covenant tracking and investor updates
- Support budgeting and forecasting through historical data and variance analysis
- Coordinate with auditors and provide timely support during annual audits
- Partner with operations, land, and legal teams to ensure accurate reporting
- Assist in board presentations and investor communications
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA preferred or currently sitting with parts passed
- 2 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus on financial reporting
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Experience in public accounting (minimum of two busy seasons), ideally serving upstream oil and gas clients
- Industry experience in upstream oil and gas, specifically in ARO, revenue accruals, depletion schedules, and reserve reporting
- Proficiency in Excel and experience working with financial reporting tools
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Full-time, in-office position with flexibility
- Office relocating to the Quail Springs area by the end of the year
- Current team includes a CAO, Controller, Director of Accounting, and Staff Accountant
Base pay range: $85,000/yr - $110,000/yr
