Area Lead Health Information Specialist

Position Highlights
  • Full‑time, Monday‑Friday 8:00‑4:30 pm
  • Location:

    Multiple sites in Oklahoma City, OK
  • Processing medical records and responding to calls from patients, insurers, and attorneys to provide record status
  • Documenting information on multiple platforms using dual monitors
  • Customer service, data entry and release of information experience required

You Will
  • Receive and process patient health information requests in accordance with company and facility policies
  • Maintain confidentiality and security for all privileged information
  • Use company and facility software and data‑entry platforms effectively
  • Adhere to the company’s code of conduct and customer‑facility policies
  • Report work, site issues and volume changes to the manager
  • Assist with additional duties as needed
  • Apply medical privacy regulations consistently to protect patient information
  • Prepare new patient charts and gather documentation from paper or electronic sources
  • Assemble medical records in standard order and ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Scan documentation and store in the electronic medical record
  • Respond to internal and external record requests and transmit them appropriately
  • Handle inbound and outbound calls; assist with patient walk‑ins if required
  • Support administrative tasks such as faxes, mail, and data entry
  • Schedule pick‑ups and assist in training associates for health information specialist roles
  • Generate reports for managers or facilities as directed
  • Exceed base productivity expectations set at each site
  • Participate in project teams and committees to advance operational strategies
  • Mentor HIS staff and lead training sessions for timely staff development
  • Assist with onboarding activities for new employees and quality‑assurance tasks
  • Perform other duties as assigned
What You Will Bring To The Table
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Ability to travel locally/regionally 75% or more of the time and commute between sites as needed
  • At least 1 year of health‑information related experience
  • Availability for overtime during peak seasons, if required
  • Basic computer proficiency; comfortable using phones, fax machine, printers and general office equipment
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Detail‑oriented focus on accurate and compliant medical record information
  • Strong data‑entry skills; ability to work independently with changing priorities
  • Organization and task‑management capabilities; rapid response to requests in a fast‑paced environment
  • Presentation skills for small group settings
  • Forward‑thinking, problem‑solving mindset
Bonus Points If
  • 2+ years of health‑information related experience
  • Meets or exceeds the company’s productivity standards
  • Previous production/metric‑based work experience
  • In‑person customer service experience
  • Ability to build relationships with on‑site clients and customers
  • Comfortable proposing new ideas, process‑improvement suggestions and constructive feedback to stakeholders
