Job SummaryCollaborates to provide exceptional care during the transport of acute or critically ill/injured patients. The team’s care is guided by clinical assessment, critical thinking, established patient‑care guidelines and indirect medical control.
Primary Responsibilities- Provides emergency medical care for patients suffering from acute medical illness or traumatic injury.
- Identifies and intervenes to stabilize patients during pre‑hospital, inter‑facility or intra‑facility transport under the direction of and in collaboration with the physician.
- Maintains thorough patient‑care documentation according to department standards, including forms for legal and billing purposes.
- Inspects, operates, maintains and cares for emergency department/hospital equipment to ensure safety of the team, patients and public.
- Monitors, records and communicates patient condition and treatment to the receiving team.
- Demonstrates and maintains knowledge and skills necessary to care for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
- Collaborates with other emergency response agencies.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and maintains a safe working environment.

- Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
- Constant standing and walking.
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0‑25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
- Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25‑50 lbs.
- Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Occasional driving.
- Rare crawling and running.
- Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA)
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) – American Heart Association (AHA)
- Driver’s License – State of Oklahoma
- Paramedic – Oklahoma State Department of Health
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – American Heart Association (AHA)
- Paramedic – National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT)
- Driving Record – Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
