Our pharmacy technician positions have transitioned from a transaction‑based environment to a patient‑centric one. As a Walgreens Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will be front and center – interacting with customers and developing strong patient relationships. Walgreens invests in an “earn while you learn” Pharmacy Technician Training Program, recognized by ASHP and the Department of Labor.

The apprenticeship gives you a pathway to become a Pharmacy Technician Certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). It provides training, learning activities, and on‑the‑job experiences to prepare you for certification and a career in healthcare.

• Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, coach other pharmacy technicians on pharmacy systems and cash registers.
• Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience by greeting customers, resolving issues, and sharing best practices.
• Maintain accurate medication records, verify medication selection, check for interactions, and assist with scheduling and workflow.
• Register sales at the cash register, handle cash accurately, and assist with over‑the‑counter product placement.
• Assist with inventory management, including ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceuticals, and maintain knowledge of asset protection techniques.
• Support clinical services such as collection and labeling of blood/urine samples, and assist in coordination of clinical services with pharmacy staff and external providers.
• Assist with professional outreach to local medical community and maintain good relationships with physicians, nurses, and other health care providers.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including good faith dispensing and the Pharmacy Code of Conduct.

• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program.
• Attend training requests by the Manager and acquire continuing education credits.
• Maintain knowledge of healthcare, pharmacy, and the latest news and developments.

• Fluent reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.

• Six months of experience in a retail or pharmacy environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Strong math skills for accurate prescription filling.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• Preferred PTCB certification.
