Paramedic, 911 Service Line - Nights

Employer: SSM Health Location: Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area (Oklahoma) – SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital Midwest Worker Type: Regular, Full-time Schedule: Night Shift Salary: $25.00 – $29.00 per hour Sign‑on Bonus: $10,000 (for external qualified candidates)

Job Summary

Collaborates to provide exceptional care during the transport of acute or critically ill/injured patients. The team’s care is guided by clinical assessment, critical thinking, established patient‑care guidelines and indirect medical control.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provides emergency medical care for patients suffering from acute medical illness or traumatic injury.
  • Identifies and intervenes to stabilize patients during pre‑hospital, inter‑facility or intra‑facility transport under the direction of and in collaboration with the physician.
  • Maintains thorough patient‑care documentation according to department standards, including forms for legal and billing purposes.
  • Inspects, operates, maintains and cares for emergency department/hospital equipment to ensure safety of the team, patients and public.
  • Monitors, records and communicates patient condition and treatment to the receiving team.
  • Demonstrates and maintains knowledge and skills necessary to care for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
  • Collaborates with other emergency response agencies.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and maintains a safe working environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience

Physical Requirements
  • Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0‑25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
  • Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25‑50 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional driving.
  • Rare crawling and running.
Required Professional Licenses and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) – American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Driver’s License – State of Oklahoma
  • Paramedic – Oklahoma State Department of Health
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Paramedic – National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT)
  • Driving Record – Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
