Position: Onboarding Manager - OU Health

General Description

The Mgr Onboarding at OU Health is a strategic leader responsible for designing, leading, and sustaining the enterprise-wide onboarding experience for all new team members. This role ensures onboarding is more than orientation; it is the foundation of how every team member feels valued, included, and connected from day one. This leader partners closely with clinical and operational leaders across the system to deliver onboarding experiences that not only prepare new hires for success but also reinforce the OU Health Way.

Essential Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and oversee the enterprise onboarding strategy (OU Health Rise 365) across all roles, divisions, and facilities.
  • Ensure onboarding processes reflect OU Health’s mission, values, and aspiration to be Oklahoma’s Employer of Choice.
  • Serve as the system subject matter expert on onboarding, providing best practices, resources, and consultation to units and leaders.
Leader and Unit Partnership
  • Create and deploy leader standard work for onboarding integration (Welcome Practices, check-ins, feedback loops, etc.).
  • Partner with unit leaders to embed onboarding into operations.
  • Provide coaching and resources to leaders on building meaningful onboarding experiences that foster inclusion.
Project and Program Management
  • Plan, design, implement, scale, and sustain recurring onboarding programs for multiple employee types.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of onboarding programs aligned with the 365-day onboarding model, including: logistics, new hire communications, program metrics, leader accountability processes, budget management, requirement management, issue resolution, and stakeholder relationships.
  • Implement role-based onboarding pathways for new employees.
  • Create standard work, policies, and procedures to deliver reliable programs and processes which uphold high experience standards.
  • Ensure compliance and regulatory and accreditation requirements in all onboarding processes.
Experienced Facilitator or Trainer
  • Lead and host orientation events, programs, and initiatives creating a positive, engaging, and professional learning experience.
  • Facilitate learning management system course design, development, and learner metric tracking as aligned with onboarding priorities.
Measurement and Continuous Improvement
  • Establish onboarding KPIs and dashboards.
  • Collect and analyze feedback from new hires and leaders to drive improvements.
  • Lead onboarding governance meetings and report progress to the AVP of Talent Development and Organizational Effectiveness.
Team Leadership
  • Manage Sr. Talent Development Specialist – Onboarding responsible for orientation logistics, onboarding events, and new hire support.
  • Build a high-performing team culture on service, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
General Responsibilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Health Administration, Project Management, Organizational Development, Business, or related field required.

Experience: 5 years of experience in Human Resources with a strong focus on employee relations, employee engagement, onboarding processes, or related experience required. 3 years of progressive leadership experience in HR, Talent Development, or Organizational Effectiveness required.

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s)

Required:

S HRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, or other approved relevant certification required.
