Primary Function: Francis Tuttle Technology Center seeks a motivated and detail‑oriented entry‑to‑intermediate‑level Data Engineer to support the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise data solutions. The ideal candidate is naturally curious, eager to learn, and able to collaborate effectively with ITS staff and cross‑functional teams to ensure organizational data remains accurate, accessible, and secure. Essential Job Functions
  • Support current and future data integration tasks from multiple sources (databases, APIs, flat files, cloud services, etc.) using the district’s enterprise tools and systems.
  • Monitor data pipelines and scheduled jobs, diagnosing and resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Perform data quality checks to ensure accurate, consistent, and reliable reporting.
  • Support Microsoft Active Directory (AD) tasks related to data access and security, including user/group provisioning, permissions management, and troubleshooting authentication issues.
  • Serve as a “control tower” for data‑related issues by facilitating requests from application owners and end users, tracking multiple issues simultaneously, resolving problems when possible, and escalating when necessary. Maintain visibility into issue status through a ticketing or support system.
  • Assist with the administration of cloud or on‑premises data infrastructure (e.g., storage, permissions, connectivity).
  • Participate in team meetings and cross‑functional projects to gain exposure to business operations and technology strategies.
  • Document processes, workflows, and troubleshooting steps to support operational knowledge sharing.
  • Ability to be present on the job as described under working conditions and contract details.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • Foundational knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts.
  • Familiarity with data integration concepts and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, or GCP) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and Microsoft Active Directory, or similar identity management systems, preferred.
  • Understanding of data governance, compliance, or security frameworks is a plus.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Eagerness to learn new tools, technologies, and best practices in data engineering.
Working Conditions

This position requires the employee to work on site. This is not a remote work position. Long periods of sitting and concentrated visual effort is required. Extensive communication with internal customers. Reliable, dependable and punctual attendance. This is not an exhaustive list and reasonable accommodations will be made as needed.

Contract Details

Twelve‑month contract subject to annual renewal. Working days and hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Benefits

Francis Tuttle offers a comprehensive benefit package for full‑time employment to include paid health and dental insurance, monthly supplemental benefit compensation of $465, employee leave plan with family friendly work calendar and 100% contribution into Oklahoma Teachers Retirement System. The district will match up to 2% of monthly, base salary with a 403b or 457 retirement plan (base salary does not include stipends or extra duty).
