Position DescriptionThe Legislative Service Bureau is seeking an experienced Programmer Analyst. This position requires an on-site presence and is NOT a remote or hybrid work position. Candidates must have experience and will be required to demonstrate technical skills during the interview process. The Information System Division of the Legislative Service Bureau (LSB) supports the Oklahoma State Legislature through the provision and maintenance of infrastructure for a shared information system related to the tracking of legislation.
The division provides support to both legislative chambers for various technology applications. LSB is seeking an experienced Programmer Analyst, who will assist in developing, testing, and maintaining applications by evaluating users’ requirements and specifications. The Programmer Analyst’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:
- Proficiency in Python and the Django web framework.
- Solid understanding of JSON and its use in API communication.
- Designing, implementing, and testing new applications using C#, VB, JavaScript, and SQL.
- Maintaining and modifying existing software modules in Visual Studio (all versions).
- Maintaining and modifying various Microsoft Office Templates/Macros in VBA.
- Creating and maintaining web-based applications with Oracle database as the back end.
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., Postgre
SQL, MySQL). - Writing scripts to accomplish maintenance tasks.
- Providing references for users by writing and maintaining user documentation.
- Bachelors’ degree from an accredited college in Computer Science/Information Systems.
- 3+ years of experience with programming in Visual Studio.
- Experience with Oracle databases is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a customer-service oriented mindset.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Must be able to show initiative and flexibility in a dynamic environment.
- Night, weekend, and holiday work are occasionally required.
