AWS, Cloud Computing: Infrastructure & Operations
Verisys is looking for a hands-on Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer with deep AWS expertise to help build, secure, and scale the infrastructure behind our healthcare credentialing platform. Our environment is primarily Windows-based, and you will be our subject matter expert for Linux, our on-premises Nutanix environment, container platforms (Rancher and Amazon ECS Anywhere), SMTP relay, and SSL/TLS certificates. This is a remote role with high ownership, focused mainly on Dev Ops and cloud engineering with a meaningful systems administration component.
This is a generalist role on a small team: you will move between cloud engineering, systems administration, and whatever the business needs next, so comfort with shifting priorities matters as much as any single skill.
Please note this is a remote opportunity, but you MUST live in one of the following states to be considered:
AZ, CO, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MD, MA, MO, NC, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VA, WI
Design, build, and operate secure, highly available AWS infrastructure (EC2, VPC, IAM, ECS, S3, RDS, Route 53, Cloud Watch, Systems Manager) following the AWS Well-Architected Framework, with an eye on security, cost, and disaster recovery.
Manage infrastructure as code (Cloud Formation) and support CI/CD pipelines for container builds and deployments.
Run containerized workloads on Amazon ECS and ECS Anywhere, and administer Rancher native Cattle clusters.
Serve as the Linux subject matter expert: provisioning, hardening, patching, performance tuning, and troubleshooting across physical, virtual, and cloud servers.
Administer our Windows Server environment, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, and IIS, on-premises and on EC2.
Administer our on-premises Nutanix environment using Prism Element and Prism Central, including cluster health, AHV virtual machine management, capacity planning, upgrades, and data protection.
Automate configuration and patching with Python, Power Shell, Bash, and AWS Systems Manager.
Own our SMTP relay infrastructure (Postfix and/or Amazon SES), including SPF, DKIM, DMARC, TLS, and deliverability troubleshooting.
Own SSL/TLS certificate renewals and installation across IIS, Linux web servers, Postfix, and AWS (ACM, load balancers), automating renewals wherever possible.
Maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting, participate in on-call, and support HITRUST and SOC 2 compliance.
Deep, hands-on AWS experience and strong knowledge of AWS security, networking, and best practices.
Expert-level Linux administration and strong Windows Server administration skills.
Hands-on experience with Rancher-native Cattle clusters and Amazon ECS / ECS Anywhere.
Strong hands-on experience administering Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure, including Prism Element, Prism Central, and AHV.
Proficiency with Cloud Formation, and Power Shell/Bash scripting; strong Python skills are a major plus.
Working knowledge of SMTP relay configuration and end-to-end SSL/TLS certificate management (CSRs, chains, OpenSSL, PEM/PFX).
Solid networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, VPN, and security groups.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Adaptable and comfortable wearing many hats, with the ability to shift between cloud, systems, and support work as priorities change.
5+ years in Cloud Engineering, Dev Ops, SRE, and/or systems administration, including 3+ years supporting production workloads in AWS.
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
Strong Python development skills for automation and…
