Overview
At the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, our mission is to lead a network that provides nutritious food and pathways to self‑sufficiency for people facing hunger. Responsibilities- Represent the Regional Food Bank professionally and courteously to volunteers.
- Foster relationships with volunteers to help fulfill the mission.
- Maintain cleanliness in volunteer work areas (break rooms and repack rooms) and prepare/stock necessary supplies.
- Set up daily volunteer activities and ensure all required materials are ready.
- Train and supervise volunteer groups during their work.
- Keep accurate records and activity reports on product worked and volunteer participation.
- Provide feedback from volunteer activities to Volunteer Center leadership.
- Inform volunteers about other opportunities to help, such as program sites, policy advocacy, and donations.
- Promote innovation and partnership with all Regional Food Bank departments.
- Assist in designing specific tasks for volunteers to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Participate in process improvement teams and recommend innovative solutions.
- Adhere to food safety standards, including AIB best practices.
- Assist with training in core competencies: inventory, food safety, protein packaging center, or internal special events.
- Work effectively as part of a team and adapt to evenings, weekends, and on‑call duties.
- Use software and technology employed by the Volunteer Center, including Give Pulse, and master Volunteer Center talking points.
- Engage in public‑speaking training related to discussing the Regional Food Bank’s mission with volunteers.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Clearance of background investigation and drug screen.
- Pass physical examination.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Experience volunteering or working with volunteers.
Exposure to extreme weather changes, humidity, dust, chemicals, fumes, smoke, excessive noise, and vibrations. Work is performed in an industrial environment (indoor or outdoor). Travel may be required for assignments, meetings, and training. Availability for rotating on‑call schedule, occasional unscheduled callouts, and extended workdays and/or workweeks is required.
Physical DemandsReasonable accommodation is provided to qualified individuals with disabilities. The position requires multi‑limb coordination and fine motor skills, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally or 10‑25 pounds frequently, as well as climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, standing, walking, and reaching over shoulders or below the knees. PPE may be required.
