Bone Marrow Transplant
Our Bone Marrow Transplant unit is a 12-bed unit located on the 5th floor of the new patient bed tower. This unit provides total comprehensive care to patients before, during, and after allogeneic transplants from peripheral blood, bone marrow, or umbilical cord blood from related and unrelated donors. We are the only cellular therapy and comprehensive stem cell transplant program in Oklahoma.
We are also the only facility that offers CAR‑T (chimeric antigen receptor T cell) therapy.
Less Than (1) year of RN experience is preferred for this position.
Hemoc
The Hematology Oncology unit is a 24-bed unit that includes 6 stepdown beds, located on the 5th floor of the new patient bed tower. We see a wide variety of blood cancers from Acute Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Multiple Myeloma. The length of stay for these patients is much longer than other in-patient units. This allows us the opportunity to get to know our patients and their family.
We treat a wide range of ages from late adolescent to late adults. OU is the only National Cancer Institute (NCI) - Designated Cancer Center in the state of Oklahoma.
Surgical Oncology
OU Health's Surgical Oncology unit has recently expanded to 36 beds, and 9 step-down beds, in our new state‑of‑the‑art adult patient tower! This unit boasts a fast‑paced environment providing care to patients in various stages of their surgical journey (pre‑surgery, post‑surgery or considering surgery) in the gynecology, urology, colorectal and surgery oncology (Hepatobiliary and Complex GI) specialties. The average stay for patients ranges from 48‑72 hours to one week.
RNs on this unit have large support from both Care Team Associates and Health Unit Coordinators.

RN I represents the nurse who is a novice or an advanced beginner advancing to competent. While advancing from novice to competent, the nurse relies on rules rather than principles which are independent of specific situations. The advanced beginner may have enough real experience to begin to formulate principles.
Essential Responsibilities- Aligns behaviors with OU Health values and maintains nursing professional practice standards.
- Assumes responsibility for an assigned patient or group of patients.
- Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, noting all changes in physician order on assigned patients.
- Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment.
- Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes the physiological manifestations of patients, and intervenes when necessary.
- Administers medication as prescribed.
- Initiates, regulates and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Delivers patient care safely and competently.
- Resolves patient complaints in a timely manner in accordance with policy and in collaboration with support staff.
- Informs patient and family of hospital procedures and shares care plan during the time of care and at the time of discharge.
