Registered Nurse positions are available at levels I, II, or III, depending on experience and education.

Shift Available

Full Time (36 hours/week) 7P-7A

The Medicine Nephrology Unit consists of 22 beds. This unit is part of a new collaborative care model, where a grouping of ten patients is cared for by a team consisting of RN, LPN, and a dedicated CTA. The unit is divided into two groupings or pods, to care for a medical surgical patient population, with a focus on renal disease, acute dialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and all other medicine related diagnosis.

There are also two dedicated comfort care/end‑of‑life suites, which are staffed with a dedicated concierge RN, providing care for the patient and family during the final stages of life. Join this compassionate and empathetic unit delivering caring principles of chronic disease management!

Essential Responsibilities
  • Align behaviors with OU Health values and maintain nursing professional practice standards.
  • Assume responsibility for an assigned patient or group of patients.
  • Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, noting all changes in physician order on assigned patients.
  • Assist physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment.
  • Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observe the physiological manifestations of patients, and intervene when necessary.
  • Administer medication as prescribed.
  • Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
  • Deliver patient care safely and competently.
  • Resolve patient complaints in a timely manner in accordance with policy and in collaboration with support staff.
  • Inform patient and family of hospital procedures and share care plan during the time of care and at the time of discharge.
  • Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
  • Foster a growth mindset through seeking mentorship, remaining open to coaching and feedback, and maintaining professional certification(s)/licensure to perpetually develop and uphold the skills required for proficiency within the nursing profession.
  • Develop a professional career plan and establish personal, performance goals in alignment with enterprise‑wide metrics, frequently measuring progress with department leadership.
  • Foster an inclusive workforce where individual differences are valued and maximized to achieve OU Health’s winning aspiration.
  • Delegate tasks to clinical support staff as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (RN II)

Education:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.

Experience:

3‑5 years of experience in patient care as a Registered Nurse required.

License/Certification/Registration:

  • Current Registered Nurse License (RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact Registered Nurse (eNLC)).
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire.
Minimum Qualifications (RN III)

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required.
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred.

Experience:

5+ years of experience in patient care as a Registered Nurse required.

License/Certification/Registration:

  • Current Registered Nurse License (RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact Registered Nurse (eNLC)).
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire.
  • Specialty certification(s) preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Knowledge of basic professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
  • Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques.
  • Ability to maintain civility and good working relationships with other employees.
