Overview
General Description: Under general supervision provides preventative and health care to an assigned group of patients or clients in an OU Health facility.

- Administers medications safely under direction of physician or other medical personnel
- Observes, records, and reports patient s condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians.
- Provide care according to an established nursing plan.
- Collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient s health or situation
- Ensures patient chart entries are made accurately and in a timely manner and forwarding charts as appropriate
- Communicates systematic report to other care providers.
- Assisting in the coordination of care delivery; utilizes resources to promote the continuum of care.
- Employs strategies to promote health in a safe environment.
- Documents progress toward the attainment of outcomes.
- Uses quality and evidence based practice to deliver and improve care.
- Works closely with more experienced clinicians for guidance and supervision.
- Triage telephone calls for referral to other clinical team members
- General Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education: Completion of educational requirements for NCLEX-PN examination.
Experience: None required. One or more years of experience preferred.
License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s)
Required:
Current LPN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact LPN License (eNLC) required. Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of professional nursing theories, practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Ability to organize, coordinate, plan and evaluate nursing needs of assigned patients.
- Must be knowledgeable about operating room techniques if applying for a surgery position.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
