Shift: Full‑time, 7 A‑7 P and 7 P‑7 A (days and nights)
Job Description:
Registered Nurse Residency Program for the Surgical Specialty unit with trajectory to SICU.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Align behaviors with OU Health values and maintain nursing professional practice standards.
- Assume responsibility for assigned patients or patient groups.
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medication, noting changes in physician orders.
- Assist physician in examinations, minor diagnostic procedures, and treatments.
- Obtain and monitor physiological data, observe manifestations, and intervene as necessary.
- Administer medications, initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Deliver patient care safely and competently.
- Resolve patient complaints in a timely manner in accordance with policy.
- Inform patient and family of hospital procedures and share care plan during stay and at discharge.
- Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
- Foster a growth mindset through mentorship, coaching, and maintaining professional certification/licensure.
- Develop a professional career plan and set personal performance goals aligned with enterprise metrics.
- Delegate tasks to clinical support staff as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- Experience: 0–3 years of patient‑care experience as a Registered Nurse.
- License/Certification: Current Registered Nurse License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing (or a valid multistate compact license);
Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire.
Additional Qualifications for Advanced Levels (RN II / RN III):
- RN II: 3–5 years of experience;
Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s degree preferred. - RN III: 5+ years of experience;
Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s preferred; specialty certification(s) preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services; apply nursing techniques.
- Maintain civility and good working relationships with staff; respond effectively to cultural and language needs.
- Skilled in computer applications supporting quality and safety measures.
- Advocate in patient’s best interest, establish integrity and trust; manage conflicts constructively.
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory standards.
- Foster an inclusive workplace valuing diversity and individual differences.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
