Plant Health Care Technician

Job Summary

The Plant Healthcare Tech (licensed). Scouting and identifying existing and potential plant health care concerns on residential and commercial landscapes. Completing various insect/disease control and fertilizer applications. You should know how to use and maintain landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, and fertilizers, while following health and safety regulations.

• This position does not have direct oversight over other personnel.

• Maintain and fertilize green spaces.
• Serve as lead worker responsible for spraying herbicides and insecticides and performing landscape maintenance.
• Identify weeds and diagnose plant diseases and problems; select and properly mix, prepare, and apply appropriate herbicide/insecticide to eliminate weed and ornamental plant problems.
• Operate general landscape equipment including front‑end loader, rototiller, aerator, mower, sprayer, and edger.
• Have thorough knowledge of the techniques, tools, methods, practices, procedures, and materials related to general landscaping and ground keeping, including pesticide and pesticide application using both high and low pressure systems.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Some familiarity with landscaping design.
• Extensive knowledge of regional plant life.
• Knowledge of local pests and how to eliminate them.
• Knowledge of synthetic and natural fertilizers.
• Knowledge of state health and safety regulations for landscaping.
• The ability to lift heavy objects.
• The ability to remain on your feet for long periods of time.
• A love of the outdoors and plant life.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions, and safety regulations related to equipment operation and other work‑related precautions.
• A high school degree or GED.
• Pesticide license in employment state.

• This job primarily operates in an outdoor setting.

This is a full‑time position that is expected to work at an assigned site. Work hours are generally Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but some schedule flexibility is permissible with supervisor approval. Overtime, evenings, and weekend work may be required, as well as occasional day‑time travel.
