Overview
Join the Zimmerman lab at OU Health Sciences Center as a Bioinformatics Analyst. The lab focuses on understanding monocyte and macrophage biology in mouse models of kidney disease, acute kidney injury, heart failure, and beyond using advanced single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, proteomics, and deep learning.
Responsibilities- Provide bioinformatics support for research projects, including data collection, database management, and script writing.
- Analyze sequencing and proteomic data, run statistical analyses, and build predictive models.
- Develop and maintain relational databases for high-throughput data storage and analysis; assist with public database submissions.
- Provide training and support to investigators on bioinformatics software and workflows.
- Install and update bioinformatics software packages.
- Respond to end‑user queries and troubleshoot data‑analysis issues.
- Collaborate on experimental design and interpretation of results with principal investigators.
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Computer Science, or a related field with a computational focus.
- Experience with next‑generation sequencing data analysis (RNA‑seq, ChIP‑seq, exome) and proteomics.
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux, Windows, scripting languages (Python, Perl, PHP, Java).
- Knowledge of MySQL databases and data‑science programming.
- Statistical analysis experience in a research environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Sit for prolonged periods.
- Manual dexterity; performing repetitive tasks.
- Standard office environment.
Competitive salary range $21,000‑$23,000 per year, stable full‑time position, and a collaborative research environment at the University of Oklahoma.
