Position: *Staff Research Assistant - HPRC

Overview

The Stephenson Cancer Center’s Health Promotion Research Center (HPRC) is now hiring for a Staff Research Assistant - HPRC. This position works on multiple ongoing research studies and serves as the first point of contact for participants mary duties include providing assistance to a research staff by collecting data, keeping records, conducting literature searches, technical research, analyzing data, and preparing reports with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Participates in clinical research projects collecting data from patients and/or participants in a study. Completes informed consent procedures with study participants.
  • Collects various forms of data pertaining to the research project or projects, which could include database information and/or hard files (e.g., in-person questionnaires, smartphone-based questionnaires) pertaining to smartphone and tablet-based research projects.
  • Conducts data analyses, interprets data, draws conclusions, and discusses with principal investigator.
  • Keeps detailed logs of all research-related projects or activities. Meticulously follows study protocols. Maintains clear, concise, and consistent logs of reported issues and work performed.
  • Conducts literature searches.
  • Prepares various reports containing descriptive, analytical, and evaluative content that may be submitted for publication or conference presentation.
  • Constructs tests or assists in the construction of tests.
  • Collaborates with other researchers or colleagues.
  • Participates in meetings and presents research findings to fellow researchers and the Principal Investigator.
  • Performs various duties as needed to fulfill the function of the position (e.g., assisting the principal investigator in other administrative tasks and in supervising/mentoring junior research staff).
Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Public Health, or other Healthcare field (Department Preferences).
  • Experience in research project implementation (Department Preferences).

Required Education: Bachelor s Degree in a Biological Science, Chemistry, or Physical Science or related field, AND:

  • 12 months research laboratory experience.

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months equivalent experience in lieu of the Bachelor s Degree for a total of 60 months research experience.

Skills:

  • Working knowledge of how to safely handle and dispose of biohazardous materials or chemicals following Federal, State, and University regulations and guidelines.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to analyze data and keep records.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

    • Reaching, bending, and stooping.
