Laboratory Technician (Part-Time) – Yoon Lab

Apply for the Laboratory Technician (Part-Time) – Yoon Lab role at Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF), a leading nonprofit biomedical research institute.

Position Overview

The Yoon Lab seeks a highly motivated, organized, and responsible individual who will play a key role in advancing the mission of the lab. Using Drosophila (fruit fly), we investigate the cellular and molecular mechanisms by which metabolic dysfunctions contribute to human diseases, including neurological disorders and cancer. Our approaches include genetics, metabolomics, biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, as well as confocal and electron microscopy.

The lab is located in a newly renovated space and is part of OMRF’s rapidly growing Functional and Chemical Genomics Program in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct genetic experiments and maintain Drosophila stocks.
  • Perform basic molecular biology experiments such as PCR and cloning.
  • Document experiments and results in detail.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of routine technical/functional procedures.
  • Basic computer skills, including internet software, order‑processing systems, and Microsoft Office.
  • Detail‑oriented and capable of working as a team player.
  • Ability to record detailed procedures and results.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional, relevant laboratory experience.
  • Familiarity with pipetting technique and calculation of solution concentrations/dilutions.
Work Hours

Part‑time hours, approximately two days per week. Typical weekly average: 15–20 hours.
