We are seeking a dedicated Security Guard to protect our 175,000 sq. ft. museum facility. The role requires vigilance, customer service, and the ability to respond to emergencies.
Position SummaryThe Security Guard works closely with the Chief of Security, Security Manager, and Security Assistant Manager to maintain a secure environment for collections, staff, and visitors.
Duties and Responsibilities- Visually, electronically, and audibly monitor assigned areas and grounds, including roving and monitoring internal spaces.
- Verbally de‑escalate situations to ensure safety of employees and guests.
- Respond to emergencies (fire, active shooter, etc.) and preserve life and property.
- Inspect doors, windows, and other entry points for security.
- Record data on property damage, incidents, and unusual occurrences.
- Warn and, when necessary, escort or remove rule violators.
- Notify on‑site personnel of visitor requests.
- Check heating, lighting, sprinkler, security, and fire systems for operational status.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Unarmed Security Guard Licensure from CLEET required.
- 3+ years full‑time professional security, law enforcement, or military experience (law enforcement preferred).
- Valid background check and regulatory screening.
- A valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record for the last three years.
- Strong teamwork, decision‑making, and emergency response skills.
- High attention to detail, interpersonal communication, and judgment.
- Adherence to all company safety guidelines and regulations.
The Security Guard reports to the Chief of Security.
Guidelines and ServiceMaintain uniform as required, follow FAM policies, and provide a safe, welcoming environment for all museum visitors.
Quality Management & EthicsDemonstrate accuracy, thoroughness, respect for others, integrity, and support team decision‑making.
Planning and OrganizingPrioritize tasks, efficiently use time, set goals, and coordinate with colleagues as needed.
Physical RequirementsAbility to use a keyboard, telephone, lift up to 50 lb, walk, stand, sit, bend, kneel, and twist for extended periods. Vision, speech, and hearing sufficient for essential duties. Reasonable accommodations available.
