Housing Sergeant - 3rd Shift (11 PM - 7 AM)
This safety-sensitive position assists the Chief of Security with the protection of OCHA residents and property, investigations, apprehension of suspected criminals, routine security functions, and supervision and training of personnel. Work hours are non-standard; the employee must be available to work evenings and weekends.
ScopeThe primary function of the Sergeant is to assist the Chief of Security with the protection of OCHA residents and property, investigations, apprehension of suspected criminals, routine security functions, supervision and training of personnel.
AccountabilityResponsible to the Chief of Security through assigned supervisor.
Examples Of Work Performed- Performs and supervises daily patrol activities.
- Must have the ability to demonstrate and maintain proficiency in firearms.
- Ensures compliance with Security Department policies and procedures.
- Reviews and approves daily written reports; should possess a high level of written and verbal communication skills.
- Investigates complaints from residents and counsels with residents.
- Assists in making arrests.
- Maintains excellent working relationship with City, County, State and Federal Law Enforcement agencies to provide maximum resident protection.
- Maintains an excellent knowledge of City-County ordinances, State Laws, and criminal and civil processes.
- Counsels, directs, and evaluates security personnel.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma, or equivalent.
- Three years of experience in law enforcement or security work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to meet and satisfy the requirements set forth in Title 59, Oklahoma Statutes, Section 1750.4(H)(2) for Armed Security Guard.
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with others, deals tactfully with the public, and retains proprietary information as confidential.
- Must possess strong human relations skills.
- Possess a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to comply with Authority attendance policies.
- Ability to possess and maintain CLEET armed security license.
- Demonstrated leadership and administrative abilities. Degree in related field.
Day and night vision sufficient to identify people, items and places in low light/night environment. Ability to communicate effectively and clearly in person and by radio/telephone. Ability to enter all areas of all OCHA housing units without assistance. All physical requirements are evaluated based on the ability to perform, with or without reasonable accommodations under the ADA.
