Position SummaryThe Security Guard is responsible for ensuring the safety and protection of the museum’s 175,000 sq. ft. facility. The role is key in maintaining a secure environment for the museum’s collections, properties, facilities, visitors, and staff while delivering exceptional customer service. The Security Guard works closely with the Chief of Security, Security Manager, and Security Assistant Manager to manage security operations.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Visually, electronically, and audibly monitor a variety of assigned areas and grounds, including roving inside the facility.
- Verbally de‑escalate situations to ensure the safety of employees and guests.
- Assist in responding to emergencies or disasters such as fire and active‑shooter events to preserve life and property.
- Examine doors, windows, and other areas to ensure they are secure.
- Report and record data such as property damage or unusual occurrences in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Warn violators of rule infractions and, if necessary, apprehend or expel them.
- Notify on‑site personnel of visitors wishing to see them.
- Check heating, lighting, sprinkling, security, ventilation, and fire systems to ensure they are operational.
- Complete any other job duties as assigned.
- Unarmed Security Guard Licensure from CLEET required.
- 3+ years full‑time professional security, law enforcement, or military experience. Law enforcement experience preferred.
- Must pass background check and regulatory screening requirements.
- A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years.
- Must cooperate and work as part of a team with employees, customers, and clients.
- Must make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision.
- Must have high attention to detail, strong interpersonal and communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
- Must adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company.
The Security Guard reports to the Chief of Security.
GuidelinesThe Security Guard is to adhere to the policies and ethics of FAM at all times. Employees shall wear the Security uniform as per policy and seek assistance on any matters or questions not covered by this job description.

Physical RequirementsDexterity enough to use a keyboard and telephone; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds; may be subject to extended periods of walking, standing, sitting, reaching, balancing, bending, kneeling, handling, feeling, climbing, and twisting; and vision, speech, and hearing sufficient to perform the essential tasks.
