Full-Time Security Guard/Officer
Location:
Oklahoma City, OK.
While carrying out protection duties, a Security Guard or Officer at OMRF plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment that enables groundbreaking research, collaboration, and innovation. This position also serves as a key public‑facing role, directly representing OMRF and contributing to a welcoming and professional atmosphere for staff and visitors.
Responsibilities- Perform foot patrols of Foundation buildings and grounds; check interior and exterior doors, and ensure doors, windows, and gates are secure.
- Monitor entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and others during business hours and special events.
- Evaluate, address, and take necessary steps with suspicious persons, vehicles, or circumstances; report violations of company security, safety, and procedural policies.
- Act as first responder in security emergencies: fire alarms, bomb threats, suspicious packages, hazardous material releases or spills, medical emergencies, mechanical or equipment failures, extreme weather, or other criminal actions.
- Respond to alarms and coordinate security responses.
- Warn violators of rule infractions or violations such as loitering, illegal parking, or carrying forbidden articles; apprehend or expel persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
- Monitor, operate, and maintain security systems and equipment, including access control, video surveillance, key tracking, and alert systems; run reports on card activity history and access data.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- While "on duty", wear OMRF‑issued uniform and equipment.
- High school diploma/GED and one year of public safety, law enforcement, or military experience, or equivalent education/experience.
- Must have CLEET ASG certification or equivalent Peace Officer certification from another state or completed Phase 1 and/or Phase 2 to become certified.
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and license to carry a firearm required.
- Knowledge of law enforcement policies and procedures.
- Basic computer skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate and engage individuals professionally, friendly, efficient, and courteous.
- Good judgement and strong problem‑solving ability; honest, courageous, alert, observant, calm, well‑disciplined, reliable, and loyal.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Ability to learn, manage, and operate electronic systems that support the security team.
- First aid and/or CPR certification.
- Specialized training in security procedures and tactics and/or military training.
- ASIS International membership and/or APP certification.
- Retired law enforcement encouraged to apply.
Shifts occur Monday through Friday between 7:30 am to 5:00 pm. No nights, weekends, or holidays required, but additional hours may be required to cover for other team members or during special events.
