Housing Security Officer- 3rd Shift (11 PM- 7 AM)

OverviewResponsible for assisting the Chief of Security and other Security personnel with the protection of OCHA residents and property, investigations, apprehension of suspected criminals and routine security functions. The work hours for this position are not standard and include weekends and evening shifts. This position is considered Safety-sensitive under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act.
Responsibilities- Perform daily patrol activities, detailed report writing, and court room testimony.
- Adhere to OCHA and Security Department policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills and interact effectively with people.
- Possess knowledge of state laws, criminal ordinances, and criminal procedures.
- Maintain working relationships with City, County, State and Federal Law Enforcement agencies.
- Demonstrate and maintain proficiency with firearm.
- Monitor and report potential security problems endangering personnel, residents or property.
- Read, comprehend, and apply printed rules, detailed orders, instructions, and training materials.
- Maintain proficiency with computers and written communications.
- Maintain poise and self-control in stressful situations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to meet and satisfy the requirements set forth in Title 59, Oklahoma Statutes, Section 1750.4(H)(2) for Armed Security Guard.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and deal tactfully with the public; maintain confidential information.
- Strong human relations skills.
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License with satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to comply with Authority attendance policies.
- Ability to obtain and maintain CLEET armed security license.
- Successfully complete an initial in-house training program.
- Security schooling with experience in armed security or prior law enforcement or Military Police experience; or a degree in a related field.
- Day and night vision sufficient to identify people, items, and places in low light/night environments.
- Hearing and speech sufficient to communicate effectively in person and by radio/telephone.
- Ability to access all areas of all OCHA housing units without assistance.
- Ability to patrol areas on foot for extended periods.
- Ability to respond quickly and safely to incidents requiring security presence while rendering aid or managing a combative subject upon arrival.
- Work involves safety-sensitive essential job functions; ADA accommodations may be considered.
- Work hours:
non-standard; weekends and evenings required. - Not eligible to telework.
