Retail Security Officer - PT

Job Summary

Provide security detail as outlined in the post orders and establish working relationships with customers, local law enforcement, and fire departments. Security officers must maintain a professional image, perform job duties with constant situational awareness, and demonstrate excellent customer service.

• Control of entrances and movement of pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
• Patrol of buildings and perimeters.
• Escort of material and personnel.
• Inspection of security and fire exposures.
• Special assignments.

• Be on time and report to post in full uniform.
• Maintain a professional image, greeting customers, visitors, and employees politely.
• Be proactive in knowing all revisions to post orders and general information distributed by the customer and AFS.
• Patrol physical property or maintain a fixed post position, reporting any suspicious activity and investigating accidents or criminal acts.
• Monitor cameras or equipment continuously as outlined in the post orders.
• Maintain knowledge of emergency policies, procedures, and regulations to respond to alarms and incidents.
• Complete daily activity reports, log book entries, incident reports, and all relevant job assignment reports.
• Make recommendations to management on improved safety and loss prevention processes identified during routine duties.
• Know life safety systems, fire panels, CCTV computer systems, and other equipment; ensure continuous and safe operation of elevators and access doors.
• Ensure training and compliance guidelines are met as outlined by AFS and regulatory agencies.
• Communicate daily with Security Supervisor regarding new security issues or changes to implement.

• Constant and dedicated vigilance.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• High School Diploma and/or equivalent (GED).
• Willingness to submit to a background and drug screen; employment contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation.
• Minimum 3–6 months prior experience in loss prevention, life safety, CCTV systems, or access computer systems.
• State Guard license required.
