Fire Sprinkler Technician

Overview

Fire Sprinkler Technician role at Summit Fire & Security.

• Install pipe systems and valves
• Cut, thread, assemble and bond piping and tubes according to specifications
• Modify, clean and maintain pipe systems, units and fittings
• Remove and replace worn components
• Follow blueprints to meet product specifications
• Calculate material measurements to verify specifications
• Mentor and coach Fire Sprinkler Fitter Apprentices and Helpers on proper installation techniques
• Ensure company provided vehicle is clean and well maintained in accordance with company policies
• Other duties may be assigned

The qualifications listed below are representative of the elements required to perform the job successfully, however in some cases, an equivalent combination of Education, Training, Certifications and Experience may meet the job qualifications.

• HS Diploma or equivalent, required
• Advanced technical school training or related work experience, preferred
• Current Fire Sprinkler License, required

• 3-5 years’ experience installing pipe systems and valves, required; 5+ years’ experience preferred
• Must be able to work alone and as part of a team; basic math skills, mechanical aptitude, problem solving, customer service, decision making, multitasking, ability to meet project schedules, planning and organizing, troubleshooting, and training others as required

• Ability to read, write and communicate in English with employees and customers

• Ability to operate a computer/tablet and read electronic blueprints; experience with Sales Force and Microsoft Office preferred

• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
• Must comply with SFS’s Drug and Alcohol policy and background screening requirements, which may include customer-specific requirements

Physical Requirements: While performing duties, frequent bending, climbing stairs, lifting up to 50 lbs, reaching, standing, and walking; vision requirements; occasional lifting over 50 lbs; climbing, balancing and working at heights.

Work Environment: Frequent local travel; work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures; exposure to loud noises, dust, fumes, odors, chemicals, moving machinery, and electrical hazards; appropriate PPE required.
