Travel Cable Technician
TEKsystems is seeking a self‑starter Travel Cable Technician for contracts across the United States. This 100% travel role involves installing low‑voltage wiring and equipment such as IP cameras, wireless access points, routers, and switches. Contractors will travel 2–8 months at a time and work with a partner for the duration of each project.
Responsibilities- Pull and terminate low‑voltage cable.
- Install network equipment in commercial settings.
- Follow instructions and code when pulling cable.
- Run low‑voltage cabling, including drilling concrete walls and limited conduit work.
- Neatly tie and bundle cables according to safety regulations.
- Install cable support structures such as j‑hooks, cable racks, and inner duct.
- Conduct tests to ensure all newly installed cable systems and devices are operational.
- Troubleshoot cable network issues.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
- Adhere to all required project safety requirements set by the client or OSHA.
- Complete work orders and maintain office tools.
- Experience as a Data Cable Technician.
- Available for extensive nationwide travel.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a 7 pm–7 am schedule five days a week.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lb or more multiple times per shift.
- Comfortable working in cramped spaces.
- Willingness to travel to Lowell, AR for new‑hire orientation.
- Ability to operate a scissor lift and work at heights.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record (no DUI/DWI in past three years).
- Proficiency with hand tools: screwdrivers, snips, punch down, toner and probe, pliers, wrenches, lineman pliers.
Contract position based in Oklahoma City, OK. Pay range $19.00–$22.00 /hr. Per‑diem paid $125 /day for food and lodging. Company provides a vehicle (traveling with a partner).
