Job DescriptionBasic Purpose
Monitor and supervise 35 to 45 youth (ages 16 to 18) in the Oklahoma Youth ChalleNGe Program (Thunderbird Challenge Program).
Typical Functions- Monitor and supervise youth in the program
- Maintain accountability of assigned platoon
- Maintain discipline, security, and safety within a quasi-military atmosphere
- Develop a team-oriented attitude in cadets
- Mentor and role model for cadets during residential phase
- Conduct counseling and problem solving
- Instruct in Drill, Ceremony, and group living skills
- Direct and participate in physical training
- Maintain documentation and evaluations
Education and Experience
High School diploma or GED. Degree not required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and CompetenciesMilitary background preferred but not necessary.
Special RequirementsLicenses/Certificates: Possession of or ability to obtain a CDL within 90 days of employment.
Physical Requirements:
- Long periods of standing and walking indoors and outdoors
- Working in high and low temperatures
- Climb stairs, run a mile, walk extended distances
- Perform physical training activities
- Drive or ride in a vehicle for extended distances
Conditions of Employment:
- Contingent on background check, drug screening, physical
- Must be a US citizen
- Employee considered essential personnel
- Serve a 12-month trial period
- Available for emergency work, shift work, weekends
- Maintain valid driver's license and CDL within specified timelines
